Actor-first demo reel editing

Your strongest acting may already be in the footage. It just needs to be impossible to miss.

I build clean, current, casting-ready demo reels around the moments that create confidence in hiring you—not around every scene you have ever filmed.

The editing philosophy

A demo reel is not a scrapbook. It is a fast argument for why casting should keep watching—and feel confident bringing you in.
Every cut should make the actor easier to see, understand, and remember.
01 / PERFORMANCE FIRST

Your acting is the product.

The edit supports your performance instead of burying it under flashy transitions, long setups, or someone else’s scene.

02 / MOMENTUM

Enter late. Leave early.

We keep the context needed to understand the scene, then move before the energy goes flat.

03 / CONFIDENCE

Make the choice feel easy.

Strong screen presence, clear scene construction, clean audio, and an intentional ending help your reel feel professional and ready to send.

Selected work

Reels built around the actor—not the edit.

Most standard reels start here.

  • Quick footage and IMDb assessment
  • Approximately 60–90 seconds
  • Strongest-moment selection and pacing
  • Basic dialogue and audio leveling
  • Simple title or contact card

Request an assessment

Projects needing extensive clip tracking or footage research are usually about $50 more. That is confirmed before work begins. Standard projects typically begin with a $125 deposit.

Choose the right reel

A reel should support the work you are pursuing.

Commercial and theatrical footage do different jobs. A quick assessment helps determine what you actually have—and what kind of reel will serve you best.

Theatrical / dramatic reel

Prioritizes acting choices, emotional truth, character, scene clarity, range, and compelling screen moments.

Commercial / spokesperson reel

Highlights personality, trustworthiness, ease on camera, product interaction, delivery, and brand-friendly presence.

Footage viability and research

Not sure what can be used? Send the footage you have, specific links, and your IMDb page. I will tell you what appears viable before you commit.

How it works

From scattered footage to a reel you can send.

A practical process designed for actors who may not know which clips are strongest—or even where every clip lives.

Send what you have

Share your footage, links to scenes you are considering, and your IMDb page. You do not need to organize everything perfectly first.

Get a quick assessment

I review the material and confirm whether there is enough usable footage, what type of reel makes sense, the final price, and the expected turnaround.

Review and receive

You receive a preview, one revision round, and then the final unwatermarked reel after the remaining balance is paid.

About the editor

I understand the reel from both sides of the lens.

I am a Sacramento-area actor, filmmaker, and editor. That combination matters: I am not only looking for technically clean footage. I am looking for the acting choices, reactions, presence, and scene moments that make someone want to see more.

My approach is actor-first and candid. If the available material is not strong enough to support a useful reel yet, I would rather tell you before you spend the money.

Frequently asked questions

The practical details.

How much does a demo reel cost?

Most actor demo reels start at $250 when the usable footage is already available. Projects requiring extensive clip tracking or research are usually about $50 more, with the amount confirmed after a quick assessment.

What do you need from me?

Send whatever footage you already have, links to specific scenes you are considering, and your IMDb page. A short note about the kinds of roles you are pursuing is also helpful.

How long does it take?

Most straightforward reels can be completed within a few days after the files and deposit are received. Research-heavy projects may take longer, and the timeline is confirmed before booking.

Can you help me locate footage?

Yes. If you have limited files but know the productions involved, I can assess what may be available and help track down viable clips. Additional research is quoted before work begins.

Should commercial and dramatic footage be combined?

Usually they work better as separate tools because casting is evaluating different qualities. The assessment will identify whether you need a theatrical reel, a commercial/spokesperson reel, or both.

What if my footage is not strong enough yet?

I will tell you. A reel should improve your submission package, not merely prove that you have footage. Sometimes the best recommendation is to wait, gather stronger material, or build a shorter targeted reel.

Start with an assessment

Let’s see what is already hiding in your footage.

Send a brief description of what you have. I will reply with the next step and tell you which files or links would be useful for the assessment.
